# Close Supervision
### A publication and a laboratory

**Look closer. Make it work.**

## The Idea

Technology is changing not just what we can do, but how we think, create, and work. AI is accelerating that change, making remarkable capabilities accessible while raising new questions about usefulness, reliability, judgment, and trust.

Close Supervision exists to explore that changing landscape with curiosity, independence, and a willingness to experiment.

Not simply to follow what's new, but to understand what matters. Not just to imagine possibilities, but to try them.

**One identity. Two complementary practices: observing the world and experimenting with what comes next.**

## Close Supervision — The Publication

The editorial side of the brand.

A newsletter exploring AI, technology, emerging ideas, and the evolving relationship between people and machines.

It connects dots, challenges assumptions, separates meaningful developments from noise, and looks beyond announcements to understand what is actually changing.

The goal isn't to predict the future or have an opinion on everything. It's to develop a clearer picture of the present and help readers form their own judgment.

**Observe. Question. Understand.**

## Close Supervision Labs — The Experimental Side

Where curiosity becomes something tangible.

Labs is a space for building, testing, and exploring ideas through working software, AI agents, useful tools, unconventional prototypes, and occasional experiments that exist simply because they're interesting.

It embraces the freedom to explore without requiring every idea to become a company or product.

But there's an important distinction between making something impressive and making something that actually works.

Labs is interested in both discovery and execution: what happens when an idea leaves the sketchbook, encounters reality, breaks, improves, and becomes useful.

Some experiments may turn into products. Others become open-source projects, articles, or lessons worth sharing.

**Experiment. Build. Learn.**

## One Continuous Loop

The publication and Labs aren't separate ventures. They feed each other.

**Observe → Question → Build → Test → Learn → Share**

An observation can inspire an experiment. An experiment can challenge an assumption. A working prototype can reveal something that no amount of commentary could.

The ambition is to create a growing body of work where each exploration informs the next.

Not just more content or more projects, but accumulated understanding.

## The Identity

The eye with the four-point spark is the shared symbol.

**The eye** represents curiosity, attention, perspective, and careful observation. It also introduces a second meaning: supervision as the act of directing and evaluating increasingly autonomous systems.

**The spark** represents intelligence, insight, discovery, and the possibilities opened by AI.

Together, they communicate a simple idea: intelligence is powerful, but attention and judgment give it direction.

The visual language combines expressive editorial serif typography with precise, contemporary sans-serif details. Black and warm white form the foundation, while Labs can introduce subtle color and a more experimental visual rhythm.

The same eye connects everything. Labs adds its own designation, not an entirely different identity.

Individual projects can develop their own personalities while carrying the signature:

*A Close Supervision Labs project.*

## The Philosophy

Curious without being naive. Technical without being inaccessible. Independent without being contrarian for its own sake.

Close Supervision celebrates experimentation, but values evidence over hype, usefulness over spectacle, and learning over pretending to have all the answers.

Not everything has to scale. Not every experiment has to succeed. But every meaningful attempt should leave us knowing something we didn't know before.

### Look closer. Make it work.

**Close Supervision** explores what's changing.

**Close Supervision Labs** explores what's possible.

Together, they turn observation into experimentation, and experimentation into understanding.
